چکیده

Climatic factors are associated with the incidence of diverse vector-borne diseases (VBDs). Colombia, located in tropical South America, witnesses high precipitation rates and temperatures, varying with elevation over the Andes. We show how temperatures are linked to malaria incidence throughout the country, and we compare those results with those obtained via simple mathematical expressions that represent indices associated with malaria transmission as a function of temperature. Interannual climatic variability in tropical South America is strongly associated with El Niño/Southern Oscillation (ENSO). Most of the region, including Colombia, experiences

El Niño and human health.

The El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is the best known example of quasi-periodic natural climate variability on the interannual time scale. It comprises changes in sea temperature in the Pacific Ocean (El Niño) and changes in atmospheric pressure across the Pacific Basin (the Southern Oscillation), together with resultant effects on world weather. El Niño events occur at intervals of 2-7 yea...

Analysis of the El Niño/La Niña-Southern Oscillation variability and malaria in the Estado Sucre, Venezuela.

The last decade has seen an unprecedented, worldwide acceleration of environmental and climate changes. These processes impact the dynamics of natural systems, which include components associated with human communities such as vector-borne diseases. The dynamics of environmental and climate variables, altered by global change as reported by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, affect ...

Climate Changes and Vector-Borne Diseases With an Emphasis on Parasitic Diseases: A Narrative Review

Background and Objectives: The issue of climate change has currently become a critical concern for the global community as it affects the transmission and spread of a wide range of diseases. This study aims to examine the literature and scientific evidence concerning the impact of climate change on vector-borne diseases. Methods: In this review research, a comprehensive search and review of te...

بررسی تأثیر تغییرات اقلیمی بر روی بیماری های انگلی

Introduction: Climate changes are one of the factors associated with human activities for the destruction of the ecosystem. This factor leads to global warming, changing rainfall patterns, increasing the amount and severity of climate factors such as storms, and rising sea levels. Parasites are also an integral part of this ecosystem; therefore, the present study considered the effect of climat...

Impact of El Niño Southern Oscillation on infectious disease hospitalization risk in the United States.

Although the global climate is changing at an unprecedented rate, links between weather and infectious disease have received little attention in high income countries. The "El Niño Southern Oscillation" (ENSO) occurs irregularly and is associated with changing temperature and precipitation patterns. We studied the impact of ENSO on infectious diseases in four census regions in the United States...
